UFC on FOX 19 would have had a pretty epic main event with Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson squaring off in the main event, but of course no Khabib fight goes down without a hitch and Ferguson pulled out with injury which bumped Evans and Teixeira into the main event and Khabib into a fight with newcomer Darrell Horcher. It’s especially unfortunate because we really liked Ferguson for a bet, but hopefully this fight goes down one day anyway and we can make some money on the American.

In the co-main event of next weekend’s card, Lyoto Machida and Dan Henderson will throw down for the second time. In the initial light heavyweight matchup in 2013, Henderson came away with a highly contested split decision win. There’s no doubt with Machida now 37 and Henderson 45, there’s no doubt both guys have regressed considerably. Overall, Machida is 22-7 and 14-7 in the UFC. He is 5-5 in his last 10, but is still the #5 ranked UFC middleweight. Dan Henderson is 31-14 overall and 8-8 in the UFC. He is just 4-6 in his last 10 and is ranked #14 in the UFC middleweight division. Even though Dan Henderson has very good wrestling credentials, he has always relied on the “H-Bomb” overhand right to get the job done for him in the Octagon. Now that he is older and has regressed significantly, that is even more the case. Prior to 2013, he had never been TKO’d, but since then he has been knocked out 3 times. In addition, in his fight vs Mauricio Rua that he won via TKO, he was rocked badly several times before somehow finding a home for a right hand that rendered Rua unconscious. There is no question that there is little left of Henderson’s chin and it won’t take much for Machida to finish him next Saturday. Add to that the fact that Machida employs an elusive karate style that makes it very hard to hit him and we think Machida is a winner 95%+ of the time. That’s why we made Lyoto Machida the first leg of our two team parlay at 1.31 (-321).
The second leg of our two team parlay is John Dodson to defeat Manvel Gamburyan. Dodson will be moving back to bantamweight after his second unsuccessful attempt to win the flyweight title from Demetrious Johnson. Dodson is 31 years old with an overall record of 17-7. He won the bantamweight season of TUF beating TJ Dillashaw by first round KO and is 6-2 in the UFC with his only losses to the aforementioned Johnson. Manny Gamburyan is 34 years old and 15-8 overall. He is 6-6 in the UFC, but he is 2-0 since dropping down to bantamweight from featherweight in late 2014. In this fight our model favours Dodson and even as a pretty big favourite, we think he’s worth adding to the parlay. Gamburyan is starting to get “old” at least in terms of fighters in lighter weight classes where speed kills. He has already been KO’d twice in his career and it wouldn’t be all that surprising to see Dodson, who is one of the hardest hitters of the lighter weight classes find a home for a huge strike and gives Gamburyan his third career KO loss. Add Dodson to your parlay and put 2 units on it. That makes the bet 2 units on Lyoto Machida over Dan Henderson and John Dodson over Manny Gamburyan at 1.57 (-174) at Pinnacle.
